From the 'I couldn't make this up if I tried' file...

Sorry for 2 blogs in one day, this is what I get for not just doing it at the end of the shift like normal.

Anywho, we just returned from a, let's go with, unique, call.

Dispatcher: 'Engine 1 respond to XXXX XXXXXXX RD for a Fire Department Assist, female locked in a car'

E1: (giggling) 'E1 is responding.'

Dispatcher: 'Affirmative, show Engine 1 responding, will be a female locked in her car. She is reporting that the battery is dead and that her doors will not unlock. It'll be a silver XXXXXX XXXXXXX.'

By this time, we are absolutely rolling with laughter. We get about 45 seconds down the road and then,

Dispatcher: 'Engine 1 from Alarm'

E1: 'Engine 1'

Dispatcher: 'Engine 1, you can cancel response. She figured out how the door locks work.'

E1: (openly laughing) 'Engine 1 affirmative, available'

I would have given anything to have actually made it to the call. To top it all off, it was a PD officer that called for us to respond to that location!
