I knew Aunt Sue would know the name of the 'Utili-kilt'. It had slipped my mind. I'm glad you guys enjoyed my blog, and thanks for sticking with it even though it was long. This one will be short, I promise!***
I would love to have a few of you join me next year if you want, I really did have a great time, and having more people that I know would make it even better.
We had a fairly quiet shift, a few calls but nothing exciting. The highlight of the day was doing annual fire drills with a few of the offices. I always get a kick out of watching people exit the building. People will walk past 2 exits to get to the one that they come in and out of every day. At one point offices on opposite sides of the lobby were exiting, and they passed each other in the middle as they went all the way across the lobby to use the furthest doors, rather than the ones right next to them.
They say that is very common in an emergency, and that people really do frequently react that way. Think about that next time you go to work!
Of course the best part of doing it is that the property management company for these particular buildings always has an ice cream truck come out to reward the people for participating, and we get some ice cream too. We all ate waaaaay too much, but free ice cream is like kryptonite to a FF (as are free cookies, cakes, pies, deli platters, well, you get the point.) It's kind of funny, the police won't touch the freebies, they worry that someone has done something to it. We don't think that way. I guess we just figure no one has anything against us, we don't write tickets! Of course, if anyone ever wanted to take out a FD, I guess I know the best way!
I am going to substitute for a half day tomorrow at April's school. I'm not sure why they need me; there is a big field trip and of the 2 classes I'll have I think I'll have a total of 7 students! Oh well, if they want to pay me, I'll take their money.
I guess that's it, talk to you later.
***Ok, well, short being relative to my usual length blogs haha!

You are so lucky to get free food after a fire drill. All we ever got was a hard time for not bringing our work out with us.
Love.
I'm all about free anything, but FREE ICE CREAM?!?! That's just plain lucky!! HaHaHa!! Good luck with the subbing gig today! Love ya!! :)
Can't wait to hear about your adventures at the school.
We get free ice cream sometimes for fire drills and I love it. We have to know how to help patients out of the building but usually we do't involve them in the drills. We are in the tunnel level so we have to walk UP the stairs to go to our designated gathering place outside.
Our neighborhood ladies used to make homemade cookies for the local police but a few years ago they said they couldn't accept them any longer - how sad.
Patients occasionally bring food for their favorite doctor or nurse and we really love that - especially when they bring boxes of chocolates. In fact, we eat all day everyday - cookies, chips and dip, brownies so I know what you meant about the fun of eating free food.
I am glad I finally rated a small mention. I did buy Chris a tent for his last adventure. Oh well...the life of a wife.
And a good time was had by all... (except the PD, but it was their own fault!!) LOL
Glad things are going well for you. Can't wait to see you guys in a couple of weeks.
Love ya!!
I think April's school needs a big "enforcer" to ride the short bus...
