I'm going to have to change the name of my blog...

...if I don't start blogging more regularly. I was doing well with my New Year's resolution to blog every shift I worked, but that has kind of fallen by the wayside of late.

Not much going on with me at the moment. We had our medical competencies yesterday (yearly checkoff to make sure we remember how to perform our medical skills). I am apparently still competent. It's funny, we do well on calls,we do well when we practice for competencies, but we all get nervous for the 'test' despite the fact that NO ONE has ever failed. Oh well, that's how it goes sometimes.

We also had our evaluations yesterday. I take issue with them every year because each category is on a scale of 1-5 but no one is allowed to get a 5. You need better than a 3 to be considered doing well and be eligible for promotions. I did better than a 3, but I still wasn't happy. It was a good evaluation but it still irks me when they tell you that there is no way to improve your score. There are some categories that you cannot get above a 3 in. Everyone gets a 3 and that is just how it is. The whole process is a bit screwy if you ask me, but hey, at least mine was pretty good. the only 2 negatives they brought up were the 2 sick days I used for my surgery (don't ask me, I thought surgery was a good use of sick days, but hey, whatever) and that they want me to start learning to drive the fire engine, which is fine with me, I knew that was coming anyhow. All in all it was a pretty good review and I was happy for it.

Guess that's it for now, I'll try and keep it short today.

Take care and see you later.

Good blog. You can just try to renew your resolution beginning now....Sounds like you had a really good review, considering who your boss is (LOL). Glad things went so well on your competency test too. Hopefully you'll get a good raise from this and the "3" won't really matter when payday gets here!!

Talk to you soon. Love ya!!

I think you should have returned to work while still blind from surgery and demanded to drive the truck. Kill two bird's with one stone. Not to mention anything else in your path.

No matter what you do the "bean counters and button sorters" will find a reason why it doesn't fit into their system.
Just remember that your final judge is you and your "customer", the public in need.
You are a great American and a saver of lives...
