But I did want to drop a quick line since I haven't blogged in 2 shifts now (again!).
The shield for the front of my helmet came in yesterday, so hopefully I'll get some pictures of that put up so you guys can see it. I know my dad wanted a picture of me with it, so I'll see what I can do there. Two shifts ago we got kinda busy and didn't make it to bed until 2 am. We didn't do anything terribly exciting, we just got caught up in a few calls and some late training (we didn't go to training until 9 pm).
The training was pretty fun, it involved fighting a flammable liquid fire in a barrel. The barrel was designed to prevent you from just flooding the water out, but it would still splash out occasionally. You had to extinguish any fire on the ground and then attempt to cool suppress and cool the vapors until they no longer were within the flammable limits. It was neat and challenging, which makes for good training. It was also kind of weird because at certain points you would get splashed with the flammable liquid and your backup team would have to extinguish you. As good as our gear is, you still can feel it when you are on fire. It wasn't intolerable (or even painful, just hot) but you sure knew when you were standing in a puddle of burning liquid or if your pants were on fire. Take that with a grain of salt, I'm sure my gear was never burning, but it sure seemed that way.
Last shift was quiet, we didn't run any calls or really do much of anything exciting, time just got away from me and I started coming down with a cold so I never managed to get around to blogging. I am still feeling a bit under the weather today, but I am starting to get over it I hope.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and talk to you later.

Keep on training! It is what will save your life when the time comes - you will simply react correctly without having to stop and think.
By the way; Aren't "hot pants" out of style?...
Glad to hear from you. Always happy to hear that you are still training. There's no such thing as TOO MUCH when it comes to good training!! Hope you are feeling all better real soon. Talk to you later this week. Love ya!!
It sounds like you are very well trained. Can't wait to see they new photos. It must be very exciting to do the kind of training you do.
